Oct 27 – MCCC All Saints / Heritage Sunday with Steve, Mission, Stewardship Pledge
Church Family,
This past Sunday was the last Sunday for worship at Derthick’s Farm and what a blessing it was. We were blessed by all the enthusiasm and participation. Thank you again to Dean Spencer and the Derthick Family for all their support and hard work to allow this to happen…what a gift!
This Sunday — All Saints and Heritage Sunday with Steve Hurd
Every year we pause as a congregation to give thanks for the saints of the past and present in our lives. Since last year’s service we have lost loved ones that made a deep impact on our faith and church life. Together, we will take time to remember all those people who have inspired us and called us forward as disciples.
I’m thrilled to announce that Steve Hurd–our own MCCC historian and friend–will be leading us through that reflection. Steve has interviewed Nora Brant, Roger Hurd, and Carol Srajer to get their recollections and he will also share some historical perspective on the congregation. This is a Sunday you won’t want to miss! The service will be available over YouTube and we will have a Zoom “watch party” on Sunday to share in the experience together. After the service, Steve will be available for more conversation, questions, and pictures to share.
Mission Activities and Opportunities
Keep on the lookout for opportunities to celebrate members of our congregation and to support some local mission efforts. Dottie Summerlin, Becky Tipton, and Pat Hoskin have come up with some wonderful ideas to share. Together we are still a church seeking to live and share the Gospel in new and creative ways!
STEWARDSHIP
We hope that by this Sunday we will have received your pledged offering for the 2021 ministry year. Together we are a community seeking to have Open Minds, Open Hearts, and Open Arms. We hold a diversity of beliefs theologically, socially, and politically. We are passionate about what we believe in and seek to live it out with integrity and courage. Though apart in this season we have found ways to connect with each other and with God. We have endured great difficulty, frustration, anxiety, and grief. We have also witnessed great acts of love, kindness, generosity, and faith. We are the Body of Christ and individual members of it–all of us giving our best to live and serve in ways that love God and love our neighbor. May you be blessed in the ways you want to give, serve, and live into the 2021 with faith, hope, and love.
Anti-Racism Class
Our last anti-racism class is upon us. We will be discussing what next steps we will take on our journey towards anti-racism.
Blessings to you and yours!
Peace,
Chad
