MCCC Weekly Update – August 16, 2021
Greetings MCCC Family! First, I’m extending a BIG WELCOME BACK to Chad and the Delaney family! We undoubtedly missed their presence over the past few weeks and hope they all had a chance to enjoy some extra family and relaxation time! Hugs from the whole congregation!!
Below you will find our MCCC Weekly Calendar of Events. This Sunday Chad will be back in the pulpit and will also lead in the formal installation of the Elders. Additionally during the service, he will lead us in the “Blessing of the Prayer Shawls”. Many shawls were graciously donated by members of the congregation and were collected by the Smile Team from our Day of Kindness event. Hope you will be able to join us for our worship this Sunday.

Free Community Meal
Our next Loaves & Fishes Dinner will be held on Thursday, August 26th from 5-6:30pm in the Fellowship Hall. Remember, this is a FREE community meal – ANYONE IS WELCOME – so please pass the word!
The menu will be:
Pizza (Pepperoni or Plain),
Salad, Fruit, and Apple Crisp for dessert.
*Extra precautions will be taken to help ensure the safety of all.

~ SMILE TEAM – School Supplies Needed
The Smile Team is AT IT AGAIN to help out teachers and kids in our community!
The “Smile Team” at Mantua Center Christian Church is collecting school supplies for students enrolled at Crestwood Local Schools. We would love to have your support! Throughout the month of August, drop-off bins will be at the following businesses, all located in Mantua:

4th for the 4C’s
Our next “4th for the 4C’s” is August 22nd. The items needed for August are:
- Tuna Helper
- Applesauce
- Canned Baked Beans
If you are able, please keep these in mind when doing grocery shopping this month. Items may be placed in the bins at the lower level entrance of the church. No donation is too small! ONE item, combined with others, feeds MANY!
The 4C’s drive-thru distribution hours are Mondays 4-6pm, and Wednesdays & Fridays 1- 3pm.
Volunteers are needed.

Cann, Cann, Converse Scholarship Time!
Those who are going into higher education can receive a scholarship from the Mantua Center Christian Church. It is called the Mary Cann, Perlea Converse, and Lucius Converse Memorial Scholarship.
To be eligible for consideration for a scholarship, it is only necessary that:
- A person be a member of the Mantua Center Christian Church (member of MCCC for scholarship purposes is defined as: one who has been baptized at MCCC or has officially transferred his/her membership to MCCC).
- Be admitted to any accredited college, university or technical or trade school offering post-secondary education or training.
Below you will find a copy of the scholarship and information sheet. The deadline for turning in this application is August 30, 2021. Please contact Ruth Anne Ruehr at if you need an further assistance. (We will also have several copies at the entrance/exit of the church.) 8/21/21 Virtual or In-Person 5K Run/Walk (click for more…)
Join us for a Virtual or in-person 5K run/walk on Saturday, August 21st! This event is sponsored by the Ohio State Chiropractic Association and registration will begin at 8:30am at Mantua Village Buchert Memorial Park (E. High St., Mantua).
The fee of $40/person includes a “Chiropractic Keeps Me Moving” race t-shirt and a medal upon completion. The official run/walk time will begin at 9am. You may also participate via a virtual event by joining our team and completing it anytime, anywhere during 2021! (Treadmill, trail, neighborhood, track – it’s up to you!)

Mark your calendars for the 36th Annual Christmas Boutique to be held on Sunday, November 7th, 2021, in the Hughes Hall at St. Joseph’s Church in Mantua. This event will run from 9:30am-3:30pm. They will have a variety of hand-crafted items, baked goods, raffles, door prizes and breakfast, lunch, snacks and dessert items. Our Ohio Women’s Ministries (OWM) at Mantua Center Christian Church is also looking ahead to Christmas and our 4th Annual MCCC Craft Bazaar under the direction of Carolin Newell! This event will be held on Saturday, December 4th from 10am-4pm at the old Mantua Center School (11741 Mantua Center Rd., Mantua 44255). There will be a variety of crafters, a 50/50 raffle, food, baked goods, music and free parking. Mark your calendars so you don’t miss this annual event!
