Devotion from Pastor Chad
This week I have a confession about some of the plants on my porch–they usually get neglected. We have two raised flower beds in the backyard and every morning I usually water them. However, when I know that it rained the night before or will rain imminently I just let nature do its thing. Meanwhile….my porch plants who don’t have the benefit of nature’s shower are left wondering if I’m going to give them what they need! With the rain we’ve had lately, I’ve not been out to water the porch plants and it shows.
I’m reminded in these moments that there are some parts of our lives that we tend to faithfully and other parts we neglect. Think of all the parts of our lives from family, friends, hobbies, activities, and even those parts within ourselves. What have you tended to faithfully? Take a moment and give yourself a pat on the back and give God some thanks! Celebrate those victories. What are the parts you have neglected? Take a moment to reflect on that (not to guilt yourself!) and wonder what could be different to change it. There will always be ebbs and flows within this dynamic! Give yourself some grace and trust that God walks beside you!
Looking forward to being with you (in-person or online) for worship this Sunday. Please stay safe out there, where a mask, wash hands, and look out for your neighbors. God’s peace and presence be with you!
In Christ,
Chad
