MCCC Weekly Updates & Events – May 14, 2023
Dear Congregation,
I first want to extend a special note of “Thanks” to Rev. Allen Harris, who presided as our first Guest Preacher last Sunday. What an honor it was to have our Regional Pastor and President of the Christian Church in Ohio in our midst! Many thanks to all who attended and gave him a warm Mantua Center Christian Church Welcome!
Our 2nd Guest Preacher tomorrow, will be our own Rev. Nancy Humes
! She is sure to bring a thought provoking sermon and we look forward to hearing her words. Nancy will be joined by Kathleen Lewarchick as our Worship Leader, Sally Hoffman who along with Ally Bozeka will lead us through Communion, and Sarah Park
who will fill our sanctuary with her inspiring music! Also, we will take some time to honor our MCCC 2023 Graduate, Charlotte Hooker
(Kathleen Lewarchick’s daughter)! How exciting it will be to continue our tradition of honoring our graduates!
On a side note . . . .
I want to take a moment to wish all you mom’s a beautiful Mother’s Day. As I say the word “Mom”, I am not just speaking of those who physically gave birth to a child. There are so many ways to be a “Mom” without having actually given birth. Unfortunately, some kids, all around the world, don’t have an actual “Mom” present in their lives, but those more fortunate ones do have family, friends, aunts, grandma’s, cousins, neighbors, step-moms, God mothers, ministers, or teachers who tend after them in “motherly ways”. Then, there are REALLY lucky ones after waiting many years who have had a baby grace their lives through adoption! (ie Frederic and Amy Vigne with baby Sophia!) On this Mother’s Day, don’t forget to acknowledge all those people who helped shape YOUR life, whether biological or not. They have all played a very important role in shaping your life, and Mother’s Day should especially be a time to shower them with blessings for all they have done!
And don’t forget those who have lost their mothers, please grant them the space they may need to get through this day. It can be very hard for many. Perhaps reach out to someone who has lost her mother, and take her for a coffee or ice cream treat. It is sometimes the outreach of small gestures that can make their day a little bit better. Just some food for thought!
Wishing you all mountains of blessings on this Mother’s Day and beyond!
