Invitation to Baptism – Youth & Adults
I have the great privilege to offer “Pastor’sClass” to those in our church family who have the desire to be baptized. Every year I offer a preparatory class for those interested to help them explore what it means to be baptized, some basics on the Christian faith, and some background on the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). This usually can be done in several 1 hour sessions or we can plan a Saturday retreat to prepare.
Our Disciples of Christ tradition states that one is ready to be baptized when they reach the “age of reason” and can make the decision for themselves. Usually, it’s around the age of 12 years old. So, if your child or grandchild is in that range (5th grade +) and has a desire to be baptized, please let me know! We will arrange for Pastor’sClass that will meet everyone’s schedule!
Also, we would welcome any adults who want to be baptized! If you have interest in being baptized (or know someone who would be) please let me know and we’ll arrange to meet together for conversation.
Typically we have a baptism service sometime in late summer at the river.
