From Pastor Chad – Week of Compassion, Ash Wednesday, & 4th for the 4C’s

As we prepare for worship this Sunday, I was thinking about these words from Colossians 3:12: “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” Compassion is more than a feeling—it’s something we put on, something we choose to live out daily. Just as we get dressed in the morning, the Apostle Paul reminds us to intentionally clothe ourselves in compassion. This isn’t just for the people who are family and friends, but for all those we encounter—especially those in need. Jesus himself embodied this fully, moved in his very being to care for the hungry, the hurting, and the displaced.
This Sunday, we have an opportunity to live this out through the Week of Compassion, the relief, refugee, and development mission fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Week of Compassion responds to disasters, supports sustainable development, and brings hope to communities in crisis across the world. It is one of the most tangible ways we as a church can respond to Jesus’ call to love our neighbors. Check out their website for more info: www.weekofcompassion.org
Remember to bring your coin boxes this Sunday as part of our offering to this important work! If you’d like to learn more or give online, visit www.weekofcompassion.org.
Looking Ahead: Ash Wednesday & Lent
Lent is just around the corner, and we will begin this sacred season together at our Joint Ash Wednesday Service on March 5th at 6:30 p.m. We will gather with our fellow Disciples of Christ congregations for a meaningful time of worship and reflection.
This year, our Lenten theme is “This is My Story, This is My Song”, and we hear the stories of Jesus and reflect on our own stories of faith. All of our stories matter and everyone’s stories will help us walk together in faith, strengthening our community in this season of reflection.
4th for the 4C’s
This Sunday is the 4th for the 4C’s. Your donations and offerings will be greatly appreciated and will help so many in our community!
Looking forward to being with you in worship this Sunday!
Grace and peace,
Pastor Chad
