A Message from Pastor Chad – 2/10/22
This weekend I will be attending online the General Board of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Some of you may know that I was appointed by the Christian Church in Ohio to be the Ohio Region representative on the board. The General Board has a few functions in the National Church according to our denomination’s Design:
- Receives, reviews, and refers to the General Assembly all items of business with any appropriate recommendations.
- Establish procedures whereby the CC(DOC) may engage in planning its program of work and witness
- Receive, review, and approve financial objectives of the CC(DOC)
There are 9 roles and if you really want to know the other 6 let me know! Otherwise, it’s safe to say that the Board handles much of the business and administration of the General Church.
It is a good reminder that much of what helps make the church’s mission go is behind the scenes. The business of the church isn’t always “fun” but it is important to stay organized and informed about what is happening.
With this in mind, I want to say how very fortunate and blessed we are to have such a wonderful person and secretary in Sandi Kossick. Every week she keeps track of our calendar, worship bulletin, announcements…etc! She handles so many administrative duties that you see and many you don’t see behind the scenes. In addition to that she helps with so many of our ministries and supports many members of our congregation with her kindness and encouragement. We are truly blessed to have her! THANK YOU SANDI and we are grateful to God for all that you do!
This Sunday we will be installing our MCCC Elders and reminding ourselves of God’s call to ministry in each of our lives. Each of us certainly do ministry by ourselves, but we can do so much when we work together! Thank you all for being a part of this community seeking to have Open Minds, Open Hearts, and Open Arms. Looking forward to being with you in worship this Sunday!
Peace in Christ,
Chad
