June 2 – MCCC Update, Survey, Resource, Zoom Opps
MCCC Church Family,
Again we had a great group on Sunday for our Zoom Worship Party! If you are interested in some virtual fellowship and connection join us this Sunday for Fellowship at 9:15, Worship at 9:30, and Fellowship at 10:30am. Come for just part or all. No pressure to stay the whole time, but all are welcome to pop in and say hello. It is great to see faces and hear voices that we’ve missed. Without being able to see each other face-to-face, the virtual options aren’t ideal but an extraordinary gift. Please take advantage of them!
MCCC Gathering Update & Survey
Thank you so much for filling out the MCCC Gathering Survey! We had 58 responses which represents individuals or whole families. I was very glad to have that many. Here’s some of the results which I found helpful:- 96.5% are watching the service (thank you!)- 57% were interested in small groups, 43% were content with current situation- ~80% were NOT COMFORTABLE with building opening- 86% identified as “Strict” or “Fairly Strict” in their self-risk assessment during this time- Cautions requested if in-building events were to take place:
Require Masks (48 of 58 clicked this box),
Physical Distancing (47),
Take Temperature (22),
Abide by state/fed mass gathering limits (51).
– Lots of encouraging and wisdom shared in the comment section
This is just a snapshot. If you would like to see the full results, please be in touch with me. Remember, this survey was given so we could take the “temperature” of the congregation at this time. I’ve heard a loud and clear affirmation of where we are and the priority we’ve made to keep people safe. That being said, there is some differences of opinion (to be expected!) and people are handling this time differently. That’s OK. As for the leadership of MCCC, we will continue to abide by guidelines set forth by health officials and do all we can to keep your health and safety at the forefront. In the meantime, we hope you are listening to God and growing spiritually with the resources we’ve made available to you. Everyone misses each other, but we love each other too much to put anyone in danger.
Our Gathering Team met last night and we have TWO groups that are getting conditions/criteria set. One group is looking at “short-term” possibilities for small group gatherings/events. The other group is looking at long-term possibilities for when the time comes to come together in the building. It is a fluid situation but we want to be deliberate in our discernment of what these kinds of opportunities might look like for MCCC.
Resource
Attached to this email is a resource sent to me by a member of our congregation. It is called “How to Know Which Risks are Right for You” – by Maryanne Vandervelde. The article is written by a psychologist who helps people think through some of the decisions they’re making and what risks that might entail. I found it to be quite helpful!
Zoom Opportunities
At MCCC we have Life Study, Wednesday Prayer, and MCCC Kid’s Call (see sign-in info below)as opportunities to gather together. If you would like to gather separately for prayer or conversation (individually or small group), please be in touch with me.
– Tuesday (tonight!) Life Study from 6:30-7:30pm Tonight we will continue listening to Rev. Dr. William Barber for our study. Join us tonight for conversation!
– Wednesday Prayer – Afternoon at 2:00pm. We get together for a time of sharing and prayer. One of the ways we can support each other through this time. If you have prayer requests please send them to me so we can pray for them.
– MCCC Kid’s Call on Thurs at 7:00pm. A Scavenger Hunt and a Story! Feel free to invite friends and family to join us.
As always, my ZOOM door is always open. Please let me know if you would like to meet for conversation, listening, or coaching. I’m glad to walk alongside you and listen during this time.
Grace and Peace be with you!
