Feb 11 – MCCC Worship, After-Session, Get Centered, Week of Compassion, Lent Schedule, Ash Wednesday, Tues Zoom Study
This Sunday we will explore the story of the Transfiguration and begin the Week of Compassion. The Week of Compassion is the refugee, relief, and development mission fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) that has ecumenical partners all over the world. Please consider giving to them by going to their website www.weekofcompassion.org or making a check out to MCCC with Week of Compassion in the memo.
Change Our Angle
Last Sunday, our Zoom group had a great conversation about the sermon entitled “Change our Angle” and reflected on how that goes for us. I wanted to share some answers to two of the questions that were asked. What would you add to the list?
(1) What stops us from “changing our angle?”
– Fear
– Judging others
– Not wanting to feel stupid
– Our own ignorance and lack of exposure to new ideas/realities
(2) What helps us “change our angle?”
– Getting to know people individually and hearing their stories
– Simply trying to be kind to others
– Expressive paintings/artwork that open us to other points of view (cf. Dali’s “Swans Reflecting Elephants”)
– A non-judgmental community of people who we can struggle with the issues
– Step out of our comfort zone
– Listen more

At this service you can get a “Leaning In, Letting God” devotional ($4 donation appreciated) and other items the worship team has prepared for you.
