March 21 – MCCC Worship, Smile Team, and Sunday Links
Church Family,
I wanted to take this space this week to particularly thank Carol Magyarics and Rick Painley. Every Wednesday evening in Lent we have had a group of folks who have joined us at the Windows and on YouTube Live for Lent Wednesday Worship. Every week, Carol and Rick come early to help get the church setup and ready to receive people. Rick hangs the wonderful banners (painted by Jodie Thompson and Joy Wyatt) and also hands out bulletins and parks cars as they enter. After the service, he gets the banners down and tucked away to be brought out again the next week. Meanwhile, Carol Magyarics is inside getting all the technology ready. She and Jon Secaur have worked extra hard to get the FM transmitter, sound system, and streaming technology to work in a way that is conducive to worship. Carol has even introduced a computer program that helps “produce” the service from behind the scenes especially for those who are watching at home. The new tech allows us to show pictures, videos, and slides to enhance the experience of streaming worship. These amazing people are volunteering their time and energy because they love God and they love MCCC…..THANK YOU to both of them and all the others who have helped make it possible. You can always watch the videos on our YouTube channel and join us for our last Lenten Wednesday Worship next week.
MCCC Smile Team
We have an incredible group of people who are making a big difference in our community on behalf of MCCC. It’s not just a clever name…this team is making MANY people smile! 🙂 Thanks to the hard work of Becky Tipton, Carolin Newell, Dottie Summerlin, Pat Hoskin, and Sandi Kossick…and everyone who helped bake cookies…we have delivered goodies to ALL the teachers and staff at the Crestwood Primary and Intermediate Schools. What an incredibly generous and kind way to say THANK YOU to all those folks taking care of the children in our community. The Smile Team is a gift from God and how blessed are we to be a part of it?! Thank you so much to all of you!
MCCC Worship – March 21, 2021 – 9:30am Worship/10:15 Fellowship Discussion
This Sunday is the 5th Sunday in Lent and the theme will be Transformation. This week we will look at two stories in Luke 18-19 that are linked in a powerful way. Two very different people are featured, but each have similar experiences of Jesus. This week I tried something new for sermon. Because Jesus was passing through and on the move, I decided to deliver my sermon while walking on the Headwaters Trail. It was a different experience for me and I would be glad to hear any feedback you have. We will also hear a communion meditation from Katie Baird, scripture reading from Carol Buzbee, and some special music by Jon Secaur.
