Devotion from Pastor Chad – Oct 22, 2021
I’m so thankful for the time I had in Vermont last weekend. The quiet time in a beautiful place was wonderful. I stayed on a property with 15 acres of rolling hills and a great view of a valley.
One day I went to see a floating bridge in the area. While walking across it I paused for a moment to take in the incredible view. Please see the attached picture. I could not help but to think of the Lord’s Prayer in that moment — “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” As we think about our lives as Christians, Jesus longed that on earth it would be just as it is in heaven. Every act of love Jesus offered through his generosity, healing touch, teachings, and presence would be to make the vision of God’s Kingdom come ALIVE on earth.
In the photo, you can see that the sky and trees are perfectly clear and stunning. And just below them in the rippling water you can see their reflection. It is not a perfect mirroring, but still beautiful. As the church and as individuals we are like that water. Sometimes we are still and smoothly mirror God’s will is on earth as it is in heaven. Other times, things can get rough and it is harder to see that reflection! As a community we are called to reflect the loving kindness, mercy, and forgiveness of God. As individuals we are called everyday to find ways to re-present and share compassion in the likeness of Jesus Christ. May we work together to be living reflections of God’s Love so “thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
Looking forward to being with you in worship this Sunday!
Peace,
Chad
