A Message from Pastor Chad – January 12, 2024
Church Family,
This is the Day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Blessings to you as you begin the weekend. No doubt this week was full of challenges, gifts, and blessings, my prayer is that there was learning, growing, and faith through all of it.
This weekend is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and we will be reflecting on Dr. King’s legacy during the Sunday service. As Americans, King’s work has been woven into our national conscience as we continue to battle the evils of racism, segregation, and poverty and hope that King’s “dream” becomes a reality. As a preacher and orator he inspired many during the 1960s and his words still inspire us today. One of my favorite quotes from Dr. King is “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” As part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) we seek to be an anti-racist and pro-reconciling church and hopefully all of us can find ways to contribute to that mission. I believe that all of us have work to do (including me!) to be more anti-racist in our thinking and being in the world.
May God bless you and look forward to being in worship with you on Sunday!
Peace, Chad
