A Message from Pastor Chad – Lent & Building Updates
This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Lenten Season
I hope you are having a wonderful start to your Friday and getting ready for a great weekend. The weather has been rainy, but given our Lenten theme this year, I can only see it as an appropriate part of our journey. What we might see as cold and dreary is only helping prepare the earth for life come spring! All of it is a gift!
I don’t know about you, but I have been so very blessed by our Lenten Devotional this year. Each entry has been written by a congregation member and it has been absolutely fantastic to read each morning. I have been blessed by each one with something to celebrate, think on, or pray for. While we’ve done this in the past, I wanted to shout out Marie Derthick for making the suggestion to bring it back again…thanks Marie! I definitely see us continuing this in the future so I hope everyone is ready to contribute again!
Building Renovations/Updates
I also wanted to take time to, again, celebrate our fantastic Trustees and Board leadership as we go on this building renovation adventure. As you probably know, we are looking to do some waterproofing around the building, make changes to our front entrance, and find ways to make the building more accessible (more updates will be coming soon). This is a HUGE and expensive project with lots of moving pieces. Our Church Extension consultant mentioned that this was a complicated project, almost like a puzzle. In other words if you see one of our Trustees (Pat Hoskin, Paul Meeker, Randy Alger, Beth Voynovich, Dale Ausperk, Brian Summerlin) please say “Thank you!” and keep them in your prayers. In addition, we have been so blessed by the leadership of Jon Secaur and Rick Painley to keep ideas and information flowing to make decisions and hold the vision. Also, everyone should know that Carol Magyarics has been gathering information about improving and updating the sound in the sanctuary. Lots of things are happening at MCCC and it wouldn’t happen without these extraordinary and faithful people!
This Sunday!
This Sunday is our second in the season of Lent and we will be focusing on Life. What does Life look like when we serve in Jesus’ Name? How is his way different from what we usually experience in the world? What changes might we make to more fully reflect the way of Jesus in what we say and do? We’ll explore this topic by reading Jesus’ interactions with Peter and the disciples in the Gospel of Mark chapter 8. Lent is a Time to Grow and we pray this Sunday we’ll help you along that journey.
Thank you for being a part of our church family and we hope you are able to join us in worship this Sunday morning!
Peace,
Chad
