Message from Pastor Chad – Devotions, Gift of Love, & Invitation
This is the Day that the Lord has made! Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
This week, again, we have been blessed some wonderful words of wisdom and encouragement from our MCCC Lenten Devotional. We were encouraged to think about where our roots are, what our center is, how we grow in our respect for others, how we are like seeds, and learning to give thanks with gusto! We have amazingly wise people in our congregation…thank you all for reading along and growing in faith!
The Gift of Love
As you know, we are blessed to be a part of an amazingly generous congregation. Many years ago, we started a fund called The Gift of Love that would be for the benefit of our church and community members. When someone within our church body comes up against hard times or needs a financial bridge to get through something, the Gift of Love is available to them to help. Over the years we have paid gas bills, electric bills, phone bills, and rent for members who needed a boost. We’ve also helped some community members on occasion. The payment needed is sent directly on behalf of the recipient and remains anonymous. If you have a need we can help with please contact me or Liz Meeker and we will do the best we can to support you. If you would like to donate to the Gift of Love, you can designate a gift to the church. Thank you for your generosity and this is just one of many ways we can offer support to one another and our community as part of the MCCC family.
Holy Week & Invitation to Church
Sunday, March 24th marks the beginning of Holy Week with our Palms to the Garden service. Together we will listen to the scriptures leading up to the Garden of Gethsemane and begin our walk with Jesus to the Cross and Resurrection. On Thursday, March 28th at 7:00pm will be a Maundy Thursday service at Hiram Christian and keep an ear out for a prayer vigil on Good Friday. We will then have a Sunrise Service on Easter morning at Derthick’s Hill (6:45am), Easter Breakfast at MCCC (8:30am), and Easter Service (9:30am).
I bring this up a little bit ahead of time because this would be a great time of the year to invite someone to church. If you haven’t invited someone in awhile, this is a great time to do it because people usually try to make it to an Easter service and might just be waiting for an invitation. Pray on it and see what God will do in and through you!
This Sunday is our fifth Sunday in the season of Lent and it is A Time to Grow: Restoration Sunday. What needs to happen in and through us for Restoration to occur? We’ll look at John 11 and the story of Lazarus to gain some perspective. Hope to see you then and may God’s blessings be with you the rest of this weekend!
Peace in Christ,
Chad
