This week was a busy week in the life of our church and I want to give you some updates! 

Open & Affirming Process

Last Sunday we had a chance to gather after worship for some conversation about our Welcoming Statement. The statement is being designed to give people who are thinking of visiting a sense of the kind of welcome they will receive at MCCC and to specifically to ensure  those in the LGBTQ community that this is a safe place. The feedback on Sunday was fantastic and moved the group to revisit the statement and “Center-ize” it a bit. We hope to send the updates out soon and to possibly take a vote in mid-June about the update. We also want to offer a Sunday or two to build awareness and educate ourselves a little more about LGBTQ issues. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to me. 

Building Update & the Third Century Building Committee

Thanks to the continued hard work of the Trustees to move things forward, we now have some sidewalks poured along the front of the building! Soon there will be railings and the possibility of getting new front doors as well. The accessibility ramp will take more time, but we are making progress. Thank you again for your patience as we continue to take steps toward making the building more accessible. 

Also, the Third Century Building Committee met for the very first time last evening to make some plans for a building vision, building campaign, and communication strategies. Thanks to Jon Secaur for putting the group together with a wide swath of participation from the congregation and our MCCC Trustees. Keep an eye out for updates over the next few months.  

Camp Christian Sunday

This Sunday morning we will have our Camp Christian Sunday! Camp Sunday gives us a chance to sing some of our favorite camp songs and to worship in the style of Chi-Rho evening prayer service. Please feel free to dress more casually and/or wear a Camp Christian t-shirt for worship. Also, if you have them, bring some pictures with you from Camp days to share down in Fellowship Hall. Looking forward to praising the Lord Camp Christian style!
