From Pastor Chad – Travels, Sound, CTS, & Worship
It is good to be back from our vacation and travel over the last few weeks. Our kids have been living out of suitcases between Mission Trip, Camp, and just getting back from our trip to Maine. Moreover, today Josh is getting on a plane to London, England to begin his European Tour as part of the global experience grant from GlueTread (If you want to follow his trip on Instagram, go to: https://www.instagram.com/globalexperiencegrant/). We feel so very blessed to have these opportunities to deepen our faith and explore the world. We are treasuring this time with our kids knowing this time is fleeting. Thank you for all your love and support for me as a person, a dad, and your pastor.
Sound improvements
As you can see, we’ve moved ahead on many initiatives suggested by our Re-Centering meetings after the pandemic. We’ve changed a few things in worship, pursued the O&A designation (still gathering votes), and started renovation improvements on our building. There is so much work being done behind the scenes by amazing volunteers as we keep moving forward as MCCC. In addition to the building projects you see happening, Carol Magyarics has helped lead an effort to update and improve our sound system within the worship space and online. We hope the improvements pursued will be great for everyone and help lead us into the future with more technology and flexibility. Thank you for your ongoing prayers and support.
Christian Theological Seminary Classes soon
I want to thank everyone for their support as I begin classes on a MA in Marriage and Family Therapy this Fall. I will begin classes on August 26th and will have classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. It is possible that I will need to go to Indianapolis occasionally for a Friday/Saturday class. It will be a new adventure for me, my family, and our church. I hope that this will deepen my skills as a pastor and to help serve our church and community in an even more effective way. Thank you again for your love, prayers, and support.
Worship
I will look forward to sharing with you a lectionary passage from 1 Samuel 5 about King David. Have you ever had a leader that you looked up to that let you down? Yeah…me too. In this time in our culture with campaigns and elections coming, what is important to remember about our leaders? How can we stay focused on God and not on all the distraction and division? These are challenging times and I believe we will hear a good and challenging word in the story of scripture that will help us.
I want to give thanks, also, for all our wonderful folks that filled in during my absence. We are blessed with a wonderful Worship Team, led by Rick Painley who helps keep us organized and on track for worship. Thank you to Nancy Humes who helped lead worship and thank you to Kathleen Lewarchick, Rev. Terry Bartlett and Roger Cram for filling the pulpit. We are greatly blessed!
Looking forward to being with you in worship this Sunday!
Peace,
Chad
