Free Clothing Giveaway – February 9, 2025
Dear Church Family,
Since our OWM meeting last Sunday when we decided which missions our funding could help, I now feel the need to clarify the reason why I said that the Free Clothing Giveaway doesn’t need funding as much as other missions in the church.
Please know that donations from the community of clothing, shoes, linens, etc. are why we are able to continue serving the community. Donations of diapers and wipes give us the opportunity to serve the littlest neighbors. Without the generous donations from people in the area, we would have funds from the two churches to fall back on to purchase diapers. Lynn Kelley submits to St. Joseph Cares, and I submit to our treasurer Marcia Page. Marcia will then give me a check from the St. Pauly fund.
We NEED donations from our congregation, as those donations are what keeps us successful in our ministry. It is because we get paid by poundage for the clothes left for St. Pauly, that we are able to help provide some needed items, where other missions do not have that access or opportunity.
The bottom line is that WE DO NEED YOUR SUPPORT! The next Free Clothing Giveaway is Saturday, February 8th at the St. Joseph school building from 9am – 12 noon. All are welcome! We need donations of diapers, wipes, large black trash bags, and donations of gently used clothing, folded neatly and put in plastic bags. The diapers, wipes, and trash bags may be put in the bin outside the lower entrance of the church, or in the designated space inside in one of the rooms behind the chancel.
NOTE: We will also be collecting these items this Sunday, Jan. 26th, along with the 4C’s Food Collection items during worship. Clothing donations may be put in the clothing shed on the south side of the church. If the shed is full, please contact me to arrange pick-up of bagged items.
If you have any questions, please contact me, Nancy Tafel, at: [email protected], or leave a clear voice message or text message at 330-416-0752. Thank you for all your support for this wonderful mission. (We had about 400 people come through our doors for help in December, so the need is great!)
Thanks for all your donations!
