Message from Pastor Chad – 198th Birthday & Potluck, WOC
This Sunday, we’ll gather to celebrate an incredible milestone—our church’s 198th birthday! For nearly two centuries, this congregation has been a beacon of faith and love, serving our community and the world in Christ’s name.
Celebrating our History
As we reflect on our history, we’re reminded of some amazing moments that have shaped who we are:
- In 1840, our church building was constructed with care and devotion, becoming a spiritual home for generations.
- During the 1880s, we were involved in supporting global mission efforts through the Christian Women’s Board of Missions, helping spread God’s love far beyond our walls.
- In the 1940s, our congregation stepped up during World War II, sending supplies and offering prayers to support both our troops and communities in need.
- Plus, many more…
Go to our website (www.mantuacentercc.org) and check out the historical timeline. We are blessed with an interesting history as the oldest Disciples of Christ church in Ohio and the fourth oldest in the world. The stories we pass on are not just memories; they are reminders of what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world.
Potluck this Sunday!
Right after worship, we’ll continue the birthday celebration with a church-wide potluck! Bring a dish to share and enjoy food, fellowship, and gratitude for all that God has done through our church family. Adult Sunday Schools classes can still gather as they feel led. Grab some food and still have your time together. Otherwise, we hope to see you all there!
Looking Ahead: Week of Compassion
As we celebrate our history, we also look forward to living out our mission. The Week of Compassion is just around the corner, and we’ll be participating in the special offering on Sunday, February 26th. This is a chance to support relief, refugee, and development work around the world.
Please start collecting coins in preparation for this important offering and/or consider what you might be able to give this year. You can learn more about this important ministry of our church at www.weekofcompassion.org.
See you Sunday!
As we celebrate 198 years, we’re not just looking back—we’re stepping forward with hope and purpose. Let’s honor the legacy of those who came before us by continuing to build a church that serves, loves, and shines brightly in the world.
We can’t wait to see you Sunday for worship and the potluck!
Peace in Christ,
Chad
