CYF 2023 Charleston WV Mission Trip – Day 3
What a gloriously beautiful day! The weather couldn’t have been better … sunny and 76! A sausage and egg casserole started our day off right!
The Dave and Sally Team continued to work on Ms. Sheets deck. We dug holes for two poles. We 23.discovered in the process to gas-lines so we had to stop, relocate, re-dig!
The Chad & Larisa Team & the Chris & Carol Team got to spent the morning at the Manna Meal Community Garden harvesting garlic, cabbage, beets, Swiss chard, and kale. Beans, lettuce and garlic got planted. Holes were dug to plant black-eyed Susan’s. Jean Simpson is the director of this program which supplies organic produce for the local soup kitchen and pantry. What an amazing lady directing amazing volunteers, feeding God’s family! Both groups went back to Cherokee’s house to stain the ramp, and paint the laundry room.
We are meeting salt-of-the-earth people and have truly enjoyed hearing their stories.
A taco bar complete with Ale81 margaritas for dinner, a walk downtown for ice cream at Ellen’s and a little football finished off the evening. Devotionals will be shared before lights out!
