September 22 – MCCC Worship, Update from Gathering Team, and Zoom Opp
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! I want you to know that I keep you in my prayers daily and grateful for the ties of the Holy Spirit which bind us together.
I hope you had a chance to view last Sunday’s YouTube worship service even if you went to the farm. We heard from Beth Schabel and Pam Auble, Nora Brant, and I preached on God’s promises from Genesis 15:1-6. I hope and pray you were uplifted by the messages offered! See the service.
Worship at the Farm!
It was indeed a gift to worship with everyone at Derthick’s Farm on Sunday as well. We had around 30+ cars and lots of enthusiasm to be together. Thanks to everyone who came and to the Derthick’s and Dean Spencer for making it happen. We are talking about having another one and I would be grateful to hear from people about what they thought and how often the experience might be welcomed.
Update from the Gathering Team
Our gathering team has met again to discuss the ongoing questions about meeting together as a congregation at the building. We decided that due to the current health guidance and the values we hold dear as a church we are postponing worship service in the building until at least January 1st. Much thought and many factors went into making this decision. Keep in mind that while other churches have decided to meet in person, many of them have much more space and much less people. The 6ft distancing requirements and cleaning required is not within our capacity right now. Millions of people have been adversely affected by this disease and as Health and safety are paramount we do not want to help spread the virus especially during flu season. Hopefully, the reports on vaccines will bear out and there will be more public confidence moving forward!
Obviously this decision is painful for all of us because we all cherish our time together through the season of Advent and Christmas. It is very hard for me to imagine Christmas Eve and not being with all of you in the building! That being said, this decision gives our staff and teams time to work together to try to come up with something that connects us and honors the sacred season. Of course, if something changes and we can meet safely, we will make it happen! Please see the document link below for the full report.
Our Anti-Racism Book Study continues on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30p. See the sign-in information below.
As usual, if you would like to speak with the pastors about any concerns, joys, or suggestions for our church…our doors are always open.
Grace and Peace be with you now and always!
