MCCC Church Family,

It’s great to be back!  The time together as a family has been a blessing in so many ways.  We went on some college visits, bike rides, visited family, and played some new games together.  I spent a lot of time on the porch watching the birds and learning how to whittle!  The time was great together as we now get ready for the beginning of the school year.  Thank you so much for the gift of time with my family! 

Sabbath Time

I was greatly blessed this week to join the Life 101 class at Buchert Park for conversation led by Carol Buzbee.  Her questions all revolved around what it means for us to observe and celebrate the Sabbath… especially in this strange time.  I don’t know about you, but I certainly miss the ritual of waking up, getting dressed, and driving to church on a Sunday Morning.  I miss the hugs and short greetings with people that I hadn’t seen since the week before. I miss coming to the Table together and singing together.  How hard it has been.  

I have really been pushing myself to think about how important my faith is to me.  Is it important enough to practice away from the church building?  What ways do I acknowledge God and honor the Sabbath when the option of “going” to a building is not there?  How do experience worship, prayer, and devotion away from the community (in the “in-person” sense)?  I’ve realized how much I took that for granted and will be that much more THANKFUL when we can return together.  I am praying for persistence, patience, courage, joy, and grace for all of us as we all get through this time.    
Christian Church in Ohio: Renewal Initiative

The Christian Church in Ohio is starting a $75,000 Renewal Initiative fundraiser to inspire the commitment and buy-in of the Ohio Region.  These funds will be critical for the continuation of our regional church and Camp Christian.  If you have the ability to give that would be wonderful.  See this site for details: https://www.ccinoh.com/other-pages/renewal-initiative.aspx.  The priorities are: 

• Extend an offer to a Regional Minister at the end of 2020
• Fully open Camp Christian for the Summer of 2021
• Explore new Ministry Opportunities through the findings of the Regional Transition Team
• Jump-start a renewed purpose, strengthen relationships and support local ministries and leaders
• In 2021 we aim to embark in creative new ministry pathways, and as a part of that, we want to create long-term planning and funding for the Region and Camp Christian so that we can ensure the longevity of this faithful ministry of the Christian Church in Ohio.
