A Message & Updates from Pastor Chad

From the Pastor, News

Re-Centering Update

In early November we had a successful event at the church to listen for feedback and brainstorm ideas in regards to our priorities for the coming year. At this Re-Centering Event we discussed the priorities of Welcome, Connection, Community, and Care and heard many thoughts and ideas. Since then, our board chairs and facilitators have met thrice to discuss the results and to find an avenue to share them with the whole congregation. We are presenting some of the findings to the Board this Sunday and then we’ll move to the next steps of getting more feedback and implementing ideas from the whole congregation. We look forward to sharing this with you more completely on Sunday, February 12th in a similar fashion as last time.

Please be thinking and praying about how you feel God is calling you to participate in these priorities moving forward! Stay tuned!

Life Study

From January 25 – Feb 15 On Wednesday evenings from 7-8:30pm I will be leading a study/discussion about aspects of ministry at MCCC.  Here is the tentative outline:
Jan 25 – MCCC and Disciple History

Feb 1 – The Bible – overview of (one) Disciple understanding of the Bible

Feb 8 – Worship – walk through the worship service and what’s important to us about it

Feb 15 – Preaching – Why preach? How does someone prepare to preach?

Please join us if you are curious about our denomination, church, and approach to ministry.  You don’t have to come to all of them, but can pop in as desired or based on the topic.  There will be a presentation and time for discussion at each session!

Some dates coming up:

Jan 15 – MCCC Board Meeting 12-1pm

Jan 29 – Founder’s Day Potluck at Noon – Celebrating MCCC’s birthday, bring a dish to share

Feb 12 – Re-Center Response – Please stay after worship to hear and participate

Feb 19 – Week of Compassion Sunday – prayerfully consider what you might give to the natural disaster and refugee relief arm of our church?

Feb 22 – Ash Wednesday (Lent Begins)

July 29-Aug 1st – General Assembly of the DOC in Louisville, KY

Worship

In worship this Sunday we will look at a passage from the Apostle Paul to his mentee Timothy in 2 Timothy 1.  Paul is clearly trying to encourage Timothy through a difficult time and reminds him to rekindle his faith. How do we keep our faith going through difficult times? There are many answers to that question, but we will hear what in particular we can learn from the passage.

I very much look forward to being with you in worship Sunday and have a great weekend!

Peace in Christ,

Chad
