A Message from Pastor Chad – Lent is Here!
I want to invite you to come to our Joint Ash Wednesday Service at 7:00pm, this coming Wednesday evening at Mantua Center. We are blessed to welcome Hiram and Hilltop Christian Churches to join us and to hear from their pastor representatives. Ash Wednesday is a special service to begin the season of Lent in a spirit of reflection, self-examination, and a renewed commitment to follow Christ more closely.
This Lent our theme will be “A Time to Grow: Lessons from the Garden to the Table.” Please see the Lent calendar below for a list of dates/themes/and events.
The theme is based on the book by the same name written by Sarah Eidson. The book contains wonderful stories and reflections about how there are many parallels of a life of faith and working in our gardens. There is much to learn from our care of the earth and how it impacts our relationship with God and our neighbors. The MCCC Worship Team has been working hard and preparing some wonderful visuals and additions to our worship space. Also, we have been blessed by 40 folks from Mantua Center who helped us write a devotional to share with the congregation. There will be devotional packets available this Sunday. Thank you to ALL who contributed!
But before Lent begins, this Sunday we will continue our mini-series on the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). We started with our Founder’s Day celebration in telling our stories. Last week we paid attention closely to an important Disciples value of anti-racism. This Sunday, we will look at our Disciples Mission and focus on the mission of being a welcoming congregation.
