At the beginning of the pandemic last year, we shifted our camp schedule and condensed weeks, but still needed 100 campers per week to make opening Camp financially viable for the region.  This benchmark of 100 campers per week still holds true for this year.

We believe that we will have enough campers to open Camp Christian for programming this summer, but we need to stress that it is essential to RSVP for camp this year.  Our understanding is that campers and families are treating this more as a “normal” camping season and are planning to register later in the year.  Our concern is that due to covid protocols, we are needing to do an immense amount of pre-planning for logistics and programming so late registrations become impossible to account for.

We want to address the fact that last year as part of our inaugural Renewal Initiative, we stressed that part of the funds raised would be used to ensure a camping season this summer.  That narrative was shared based on the assumption that we would still be able to have enough interest and enough campers to maintain even a condensed camping schedule.  To be completely honest, if we do not have at least 100 campers per week, there will be a financial strain on the region, which may need to be offset by additional donations to subsidize camp this summer.

In summary, we need at least 100 campers per week to be able to open Camp this summer without any supplemental donations.  We currently have just a little more than 200 people who have RSVPd across all four camps.  If you have not already sent in an RSVP for you or your family, please do so by Monday, April 19^th so that we can have definite numbers of campers and the assurance that we have enough involvement to open Camp.
