KWM Granted 501(c)(3) Status!

We are thrilled to announce that KWM has officially been granted 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status by the Internal Revenue Service! This major milestone validates our mission and means that all past and future contributions are now fully tax-deductible. Thank you to our incredible community for your unwavering support.
We applied for this status to become tax exempt and to be able to apply for grants to receive bigger and better funding. We can now produce contribution statements to those who donate to KWM, but the most important reason to apply was so that we can achieve more consistent financial growth.
Starting March 1st thru April 1st, we will be educating our congregation on how to make this change. First, all checks for Kids Weekend Meals donations must be made payable to “Kids Weekend Meals” or “KWM“.
The same is true for online donations. You can click the Donate Online to KWM button on the KWM page or on www.mantuacentercc.org, click the Give Online button in the menu at the top right. On the welcome page, scroll down to the section “Interested in donating to Kids Weekend Meals (KWM)?” This will land you in the spot to make your donation.
Making a donation to Mantua Center Christian Church will remain the same as it is now.
After April 1st, if the church receives a check intended for KWM but is made payable to MCCC, it will have to be given back to you to write it correctly. The same is true for an online deposit. If your deposit is received on MCCC accounting system, intended for KWM, it will have to be refunded to you so it can be donated on the correct accounting system. We are not saying that your donation is not important to us because it is, but now as we are two separate entities, our accounting for both must clearly be separate. We can no longer transfer money from one accounting system to another or from one bank to another.
I realize that this is a lot! But, this is not the last time you will be hearing from me. I will have a step by step guide next week and be available for questions. Just so you know, KWM hired a lawyer to get the 501c3 completed and all this info today is at his recommendation.
