A Message from Pastor Chad – Foundation and Gratitude

Church Family,
Over the past week, I have been holding you all in prayer and gratitude. This season we are walking through together is not easy, and yet I am continually reminded of the depth of care, faith, and love that lives within this congregation.
One of the scriptures that has been resting in my heart is Jesus’ teaching about the wise person who builds their house on the rock (Matthew 7:24–27). Jesus speaks of storms that come, the winds that howl, rains that fall, foundations that are tested. What makes the difference is not whether the storm arrives, but what the house is built upon. For us, that rock is not a person, not a building, not even a particular season of ministry. Our foundation is Christ! His way of love, his call to justice, his promise of life. When we remember that, we discover that even in times of change, we are not adrift. We are held closely through the power of the Holy Spirit.
I want to thank you for the many ways you have reached out over these days through notes, emails, conversations in the pews, kind words, and prayers. Your grace, understanding, and care have been deeply meaningful to me and to my family. I am grateful beyond words for the trust and love you have shared.
I am also thankful for our church leadership, who are already working thoughtfully and faithfully with our region to discern next steps. They are committed to moving forward in the healthiest ways possible for MCCC, and I am grateful for their wisdom, steadiness, and care for this congregation.
Please know that your questions are welcome. It is good and faithful to wonder, to seek clarity, and to name what you are feeling. You are always invited to reach out to me or to our leaders if you have questions or simply need to talk. In the coming days, leadership is preparing an FAQ document that will be shared with the congregation. Our hope is that it will help you process what is happening and provide some of the answers many of you are seeking.
I hope you will join us for worship this Sunday as we continue to gather around the One who is our true foundation. I look forward to seeing you, praying with you, and walking together in this season of transition.
With deep gratitude and care,
Chad
